Summary / Description

We are seeking motivated, career and customer oriented Systems Engineer interested in joining our team in Chantilly, VA, and exploring an exciting and challenging career with Unisys Federal Systems.

 

Performs strategic planning, scheduling and technical analysis of NSG sensor integration programs at all levels of total system product throughout system life cycle. Ensures logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional and timeline analysis, detail trade studies, AoAs, requirements allocation and interface definition translating customer requirements into system specifications. Maintain strong awareness of technical IT and NTM domain trends, on-going IT projects, and NSG mission/ business requirements. Applies appropriate project management model (e.g. Spiral, Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid) selected for system implementation efforts and provides innovative analysis, design, development, deployment, and lifecycle support. Develops end-to-end integrated program schedules, critical paths (CPM)/ Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT), ensuring systems development support NSG enterprise control gates, keeping senior management apprised of program status.

Provide NGA strategic planning and scheduling management processes for NSG systems engineering and integration of their capabilities into the NSG enterprise from joint topical requirements and CONOPs development through enterprise transition and into operations. Manage NSG sensor integration driven requirements including interface definitions and architecture closure. Plans and coordinates NSG mods, with emphasis on NGA segments/services, to support NTM data types, formats, and volumes. Manages engineering uncertainties of a changing NTM architecture. Manages, develops, coordinates and documents integration of NSG functions into existing NGA segments/services as well as into NSG baseline architecture without interruption to mission ops and Master Schedule Milestones.

 

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Apply mission process improvement re-engineering NTM source integration TCPED, implementing new ways of doing business tradecraft methods and IT modernization projects
  • Perform detail planning of sensor integration task and activities, with associated durations to include elements, interfaces and milestones
  • Monitor, collect, identify and coordinate schedule changes by identifying task and timelines, designating controlled milestones, identifying schedule dependencies
  • Identify, monitor, collect and coordinate Test and Transition schedule activities across the NGA segments and NSG stakeholders
  • Analyze/assess schedule risks and issues and provide recommended courses of action
  • Execute end to end joint RFC process to develop new requirements which may impact NGA and the Mission Partner, preparing and coordinating required documentation
  • Provide assessment of RFCs for NTM impact delivering recommendations to customer & SEIN
  • Provide SME to develop joint CONOPS and success criteria for Enterprise Initialization WG
  • Deliver Initialization Readiness Reviews for future NTM systems integration, coordinating package with stakeholder program offices/KCs/Portfolios, making assessments for the customer
  • Manage daily initialization status meetings with the customer
  • Maintain continuous customer/stakeholder engagement business rhythms/communications
  • Keep team, Customer, SEIN Leaders/SIF/SERB and TARGET apprised of project status/schedule

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Master's degree in Engineering, CS, Info Systems, Math, and minimum 10 years IT e.g. SE&I, strategic planning, scheduling, critical path analysis, capabilities implementation, SLC process experience or a Bachelor's degree in the diciplines stated above with a minimum 15 years of relevent IT experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of agency-specific experience
  • 5 years System Engineering experience working with geospatial IT systems
  • Working knowledge and Systems Engineering and Integration experience with NSG and Commercial and NTM systems and interfaces
  • Ability to apply methodologies for Strategic planning, SWOT analysis of internal and external factors impacting the NSG enterprise
  • Translate event based planning to task and calendar base detail necessary to track program execution 
  • Ability to assess schedule variances and critical path to determine schedule impacts and associated risk
  • Working knowledge of the NSG and NGA Acquisition and Change Management Processes
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Experience using MS Project and Visio
  • Strong customer service teaming skills; ability to collaborate in cross-functional team
  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving, organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, and ability to lead technical forums
  • Active TS/SCI security clearances with knowledge/experience working in the Intel Community


Desired Qualifications:

  • IT credential and certifications i.e. DAWIA, PMP, INCOSE, ITIL, CISSP and SAFe Agile
  • Demonstrated system engineering experience with NSG and NGA IC partner systems/sensors
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Experience in enterprise software test development, Service as a Solution, cloud computing, distributed systems, database internals, and/or analytics
  • Experience using MS Office tools including MS Project and Visio
