Summary / Description

We are seeking motivated, career and customer oriented Systems Engineer interested in joining our team in Chantilly, VA, and exploring an exciting and challenging career with Unisys Federal Systems.

 

Performs technical planning and full lifecycle SE&I (e.g., CONOPS, Requirements, Interfaces, V&V, Segment Integration, and Milestone Readiness Planning and Assessment), for the NSG ground enterprise mission capabilities, leveraging Mission Partner systems and GEOINT source data, to integrate a new Motion Imagery resource into the NSG and drive Mission tradecraft transformation. Ensures systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional and timeline analysis, trade studies, AoAs, requirements allocation, and interface definition, translating customer requirements into system specs/capability descriptions. Maintains strong awareness of technical IT, GEOINT domain, TCPED (Tasking, Collection, Processing, Exploitation, Dissemination) trends, ongoing IC initiatives (e.g., IC Cloud), and mission/business requirements.

 

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform full lifecycle SE&I (from joint topical requirements and CONOPS development to enterprise transition into operations), to integrate a new Motion Imagery resource into the TCPED process and transform the ground architecture.
  • Participate in the joint RFC process to assess impacts (e.g., Segment, Interface, Volumetric, Infrastructure) and develop/derive/decompose/allocate functional requirements which impact NGA/Mission Partners; prepare/coordinate required documentation.
  • Conduct trade studies and AoAs to inform decision making of potential changes to the NGA operational baseline and document changes in CONOPS and requirements.
  • Evaluate acquisition roadmaps, identifying capability gaps and developing mitigation plans; develop and execute time-phased epochs for migrating new capabilities to the operational baseline.
  • Plan/lead/participate in Milestone Readiness Events (joint, waterfall, agile) to evaluate readiness and Major System Acquisition (MSA) control gates.
  • Identify, track, mitigate, and resolve technical risks and issues related to joint interface and/or cross-Segment integration.
  • Plan/lead/participate in Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs) and Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) to serve as focal points for managing project execution and resolving enterprise issues. 
  • Manage continuous customer/stakeholder engagement business rhythms/communications.
  • Implement vision to replace stovepipe Motion Imagery (MI) / Full Motion Video (FMV) TCPED with an open NSG enterprise, system of systems service-oriented architecture.

Requirements

Required Qualifications: 

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Math, or related scientific or technical discipline, and minimum 10 years experience in directly related field or a Bachelor's degree in the diciplines stated above with a minimum 15 years of relevent IT experience.
  • 10 years of recent agency-specific experience
  • 3+ years of SE experience related to NTM and Motion Imagery
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the NGA and/or Mission Partner organization, programs, and systems
  • Experience applying SE processes, planning complex systems or enterprises and performing requirements analysis, interface definition, detailed implementation planning, readiness, and systems transitions
  • Experience using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative technical solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems, driving data-driven decisions
  • Strong customer service teaming skills; ability to collaborate in cross-functional team
  • TS/SCI security clearance (SSBI current within 5 years).

Desired Qualifications:

  • SE&I (INCOSE), IT (ITIL), Agile (SAFe), LSS certification(s)
  • Knowledge and experience with NTM capabilities, NGA/IC/DoD architectures/missions, NGA and/or Mission Partners sensors/systems (e.g., RTM/GIMS/RMS, IDS-D and Library Systems)
  • Technical project engineering leadership expertise and experience, working across boundaries
  • Working knowledge of NGA acquisition/baseline configuration/change management processes
  • Knowledge of Cloud Computing initiatives (e.g., interoperability platform patterns & tenets {virtualization (HW and SW)}, interface abstraction, open standards, frameworks (NIST)
  • NGA, IC/DoD IT knowledge [e.g., ICITE, cloud architectures/missions, as-is/future vision]
  • A/B ISR TCPED SLC (e.g., FMV, MAWS, WAPS/WAS, MTI, ABI, SOM, exploitation) experience
