We are currently seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented Sr. Test Engineer to join our team in the Washington, DC metro area to begin an exciting and challenging career with Unisys Federal Systems.

 

In this role you will work with our client (Veterans Affairs) to deliver new software development projects in a Microsoft Platform Solution environment. Must have the ability to manage competing demands with professionalism and a positive attitude, to help us deliver great software products.

Develop and apply advanced test quality methods, theories and research techniques. Responsible for testing and maintaining web-based custom applications for the organization. Provide technical support for developed applications. Provide application software testing services and technical support typically in a defined project. Tests, debugs, documents, implements and maintains software applications. Analyze requirements and maintains, tests, and integrates application components. Ensure that test strategy is successfully implemented. Has a full understanding of area of specialization; resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways. Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Have in-depth knowledge in own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines. Solve complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions. Apply a broad range of theories, concepts, principles, and methodologies to assignments involving complex features. Network with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments. Work independently. May lead projects or project steps within a broader project or have accountability for ongoing activities or objectives. Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

 

Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:

A Senior Test Engineer must have experience working with developers, end users and organizations to create test plans and test scripts. Coordinate with test sites and other team participants to plan test events. experience in creating reports. Tracks problems and reports on errors that are identified.   Must have experience with configuring necessary hardware and operating environments as needed to complete assigned testing. Must have comprehensive technical expertise on IT products, operating systems, software, hardware, systems and networks and specialized environments. Must have experience in writing or assisting in the development of test plans and test procedures. Must manage the defect database under the guidance of senior QA engineers.

Acts as the primary point of contact for testing facilitators, executors, and validators. Direct the work product and processes by balancing the team's capacity and schedule. May direct a team of up to 10 Unisys or contract testers.

  • This person has lead testing team in Agile based environments support TDD, BDD, and/or other types of modern driven development methodologies supported by automation.
  • This role requires development of Seleniun scripts and other automated scripts integrated with Jenkins Pipelines or similar tooling experience.
  • Leads all efforts relating to testing and/or coordination of release control efforts. Plans and reviews test models for product test and release control (e.g., plans, data, and scripts).
  • Defines test plans and criteria for acceptance. Defines testing quality standards, guidelines, and testing methodologies for the team. Assists in defining the test strategy and release planning.
  • Owns specific modules and may lead a sub team on a test deliverable.
  • Understands the quality framework defined for the product.
  • Reviews and updates test plans and maintains the Quality Management System.
  • Proactively identifies scope for automation. Ensures test coverage, productivity and quality benchmarks are met.
  • Ensures the effective adoption and utilization of testing tools. Ensures the review of test artifacts and tracks to closure.
  • Involved in product review meetings.
  • Coordinates the development, updating, and maintenance of testing standards and procedures.
  • Reviews the test, validation, and pilot results to make sure they meet the entry and exit criteria.
  • Has hands on experience in one or more automation testing tools and has the ability to coach junior staff.
  • Familiar with Performance testing tools and methodology and supports the implementation of Testing Lifecycle Management best practices and automation.

Position Requirements:

US Citisenship or Green Card Holder Required

Must be able to obtain a VA Public Trust Clearance.

Prior financial industry experience Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience.

8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education
