Summary / Description

We are currently seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented Application Systems Analyst (Master) to join our team in Arlington, VA to begin an exciting and challenging career with Unisys Federal Systems.

 

In this role you will gain valuable career-enhancing experience as we support the design, development, testing, implementation, training, and maintenance of our federal government’s critical systems. 

 

Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Formulates/defines system scope and objectives.
  • Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results.
  • Prepares detailed specifications for programs. Assists in the design, development, testing, implementation, and documentation of new software and enhancements of existing applications.
  • Works with project managers, developers, and end users to ensure application designs meet business requirements.
  • Formulates/defines specifications for complex operating software programming applications or modifies/maintains complex existing applications using engineering releases and utilities from the manufacturer.
  • Designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents those programs.
  • Provides overall operating system, such as sophisticated file maintenance routines, large telecommunications networks, computer accounting, and advanced mathematical/scientific software packages.
  • Assists all phases of software systems programming applications.
  • Evaluates new and existing software products.
  • Analyzes and evaluates major system project requirements of considerable complexity requiring a thorough understanding of all parameters affecting and interfacing with the system. Reviews user requirements and provides direction in the identification of problem and potential resolution. Provides analytical support in the conceptualization, development and implementation of complex, multiple inter-linked systems. Defines system objectives and prepares system design specifications to meet user requirements and satisfy interface problems. Formulates logical statements of user requirements and develops solutions through application of systems and methods of engineering techniques. Reviews alternate approaches and selects appropriate methodology. Addresses complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires and evaluation of often intangible factors. Reviews literature, patents, and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects. Recommends corrections in technical applications and analysis. Evaluates vendor capabilities to provide required products or services
  • Applies advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts. Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts. Works on unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious. Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated. Determines and pursues courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. Work checked through consultation and agreement with others rather than by formal review of superior. Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve critical organizational objectives and affect the image of the organization's technological capability. Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs. Acts as advisor to management on advanced technical research studies and applications. May provide work leadership for lower level employees. Considered expert in field. Excludes those with full supervisory responsibility.
  • Ensures high levels of client satisfaction for the products/solutions supported.
  • Addresses all questions regarding the installation, configuration and customization within the areas of domain expertise.
  • Responds to Level 2 problems in a timely and accurate manner and ensures that Service Level Agreements are met.
  • Recognized as a Subject Matter Expert on products being supported and is knowledgeable of competitor’s products.
  • On specific situations or at the request of management may resolve Level 3 support issues as required.
  • May work on billable engagements as required to meet current client requirements.
  • May supervise a team of Systems Analysts
  • Participate in selling and promoting additional services.
  • Escalates product issues to Unisys Management when support staff is unable to resolve them.
  • Identifies, documents and estimates (costs/revenue) opportunities for add-on services
  • Attempts to reproduce reported problems, identifies, and provides immediate workarounds to overcome problems
  • Documents resolutions to reported problems
  • Identifies product and documentation deficiencies and makes suggestions for improvement.
  • Analyzes and resolves problems escalated from junior staff.
  • Works with clients to define requirements for enhancement requests
  • Manages the qualification and assessment of client expectations
  • Acts as a subject-matter expert in more than one CMMi Process Areas
  • Applies CMMi compliant best practices and promoting continuous process improvement
  • May manage the design and implementation of CMMi-compliant processes and process improvements
  • Acts as technical and business domain subject-matter expert to other groups and to clients
  • Reviews applicable work products and activities
  • Acts as consulting expert to advise on the functional/technical/organizational matters which can impact the work/business processes

  • Change Requests (ClearQuest Feature, New Feature Suggestions)

Requirements

Position Requirements:

U.S. CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Applied Mathematics or Computational Statistics preferred

10 years of experience
