Summary / Description

We are currently seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented Enterprise Architect to join our team in Arlington, VA to begin an exciting and challenging career with Unisys Federal Systems.

 

In this role you will gain valuable career-enhancing experience as we support the design, development, testing, implementation, training, and maintenance of our federal government’s critical systems. 

 

Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Provides high-level architectural expertise to managers and technical staff.
  • Develops architectural products and deliverables for the enterprise and operational business lines.
  • Develops strategy of system and the design infrastructure necessary to support that strategy.
  • Advises on selection of technological purchases with regards to processing, data storage, data access, and applications development. Sets standards for the client/server relational database structure for the organization (SQL, ORACLE, SYBASE, etc.).
  • Advises of feasibility of potential future projects to management.
  • Conceptualizes, architects, designs, implements and supports integrated solutions for client engagements.
  • Designs and integrates the most complex, leading-edge, and business critical solutions for major, enterprise-wide companies.
  • Leads the technology or application solution for multiple projects.
  • Finds, qualifies and develops service opportunities.
  • Works to ensure that a steady stream of follow-on services are made available to complement the original services offering.
  • Establishes and maintains productive working relationships with prime and sub-contract companies and with other Unisys business units.
  • Presents technology or application based papers to major conferences and publishes papers in professional journals and publications.
  • Fills a lead architect functional role with in-depth portfolio related technology specialization to develop or refine infrastructure solution designs based on Unisys portfolio offerings and interfaces with the client on all issues related to the design, implementation, testing and cutover of the solution.

  • Works with client stakeholders to evaluate the solution requirements and supports the management and traceability of requirements during the engagement
  • Provides project oversight and acts as a subject matter expert resource to clients on Portfolio Solution processes, required products, product configuration, solution integration, implementation methodologies, resource requirements and implementation timelines.
  • Interfaces to all levels of the client’s organization on solution implementation progress, technical issues, proper practices and technical requirements.
  • Works with client technical staff during the requirements definition and implementation to resolve issues.
  • Assumes accountability for the infrastructure solution technology components and the successful implementation ofthe full solution. May include hands-on modeling, design, configuration, installation, performance tuning, prototyping and/or other efforts required to keep the project on a successful track.
  • Maintains and reports on implementation status and changes to risks, estimates or schedule.
  • Collaborates with architect peers to efficiently resolve design issues, improve design quality and share high quality information.
  • May monitor the performance of external service providers or subcontractors.
  • May assign and review tasks, mentor junior architects, manage performance feedback, and create development plans consistent with performing the role of team leader or project manager

 

 

Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Experience developing solutions using Message Services, including development of Apache IBM MQ or ActiveMQ services. 
  • Experience designing and implementing Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions using Microsoft Active Directory and Personal Identity Verification (PIV) cards 
  • Proficient in network communication protocols, ports, routing, proxy settings, and firewall policies
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in architecture, during which both professional and leadership capabilities have been clearly demonstrated
  • Experience designing solutions compliant with the Federal Information Management Security Act (FISMA) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Security Standards and Security Requirements 
  • Technically proficient in designing and implementing data center/cloud-based hosting solutions, including solution architecture and cost estimation 
  • Familiarity with pricing and licensing models of major enterprise software platforms, including IBM, Informatica or other similar data mining, data aggregation and warehousing tools, Oracle, and Red Hat; making architecture recommendations in consideration of lifecycle cost 
  • Proven ability to develop root case analysis, problem identification and resolution, and roadmap for problems within system design and implementation of existing and new systems 
  • Technical proficiency in optimizing system performance and resource utilization through log and monitoring analysis 
  • Experience analyzing business requirements and designing specifications for technical solutions and associated activities 
  • Technical proficiency with SQL including the ability to create queries to validate data integrity and other data constraints 
  • Experience with all aspects of configuration management planning including configuration identification, change control, configuration status accounting, configuration audits, configuration documentation 
  • Expert knowledge of cloud and distributed architectures espeically in high-volume, high-availability and high-throughput systems.
  • Expert ability to transcend multiple technology stacks and line of business applications such as AWS, Azure (similar Cloud offerings), and SharePoint to develop integrated and automated business solutions
  • Knowledgeable and adheres to information security best practices
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and visual presentation skills
  • Proven skills to work effectively across internal functional areas and technology teams
  • Structured thinker and effective communicator, comfortable with interacting with customers
  • Ability to work independently, establishing strategic objectives, project plans, and milestones
  • Experience with project management, ITIL and SDLC methodologies

 

Desired Skills:

  • Prior experience in the biometric system industry
  • TOGAF certification is a plus
  • ITIL certification is a plus
  • Knowledge of Micro Service Arcthieture approaches.

 

Position Requirements:

U.S. CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED

Master's degree in Computer Science or Applied Mathematics or Computational Statistics preferred and 15 years of experience or equivalent
