We are currently seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Next Generation Data Center/Computing Architect Engineer to join our team in Northern Virginia and begin an exciting and challenging career with Unisys Federal Systems. We are looking for an experienced individual with a deep understanding of leading information technology practices such as cloud computing and Software Defined Infrastructure (SDI), Software Defined Networks (SDN) and Software Defined Data Centers (SDDC). The ideal candidate is experienced and comfortable with helping customers transform their traditional compute infrastructures by adopting these and other technologies. You are familiar with Agile Development methods and are able to develop clear, comprehensive system, technical and product architectures that support current and future directions of our Federal government clients. You will be responsible for guiding the development of system, technical and product concepts and solutions based on long-range technology trends, customer needs, and forward-looking vision. You will also act as a migration-planning consultant to IT management and an architecture expert to business management. The ideal candidate is an individual with the functional knowledge and ability to take a concept and turn it into a finished product.
In this role, you will use your information technology expertise to support multiple complex work assignments which are broad in nature and require originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks. You will apply your comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments, evaluate performance results and recommend changes as necessary to achieve project success. You will apply your expertise in back-end and front-end technologies and IT operations, including software development, databases, servers and cloud, Internet of Things (IoT), systems engineering, and security necessary to deliver mission capabilities to clients. You will build on your experience in tranforming data centers from traditional designs to states where all infrastructure is virtualized and delivered as a service, control of the data center is fully automated by software, and hardware configuration is maintained through intelligent software systems. You will provide guidance in selecting and implementing the latest and best in class tool ecosystems to support on-premise, cloud and hybrid environments, including ITSM (e.g., Service Now), Service Analytics (e.g., egain) and Automation (e.g., IPsoft). You will solution and implement a hybrid environment inclusive of edge computing. You will apply your knowledge of advanced computing infrastructure security products such as identity-driven microsegmentation software to enhance protection of our client's information infrastructure. You will support development of systems and demonstrations related to a broad range of business areas. You will partipcate in designing, developing, enhancing, debugging, and implementing computing technologies to support software solutions and demonstrations in an Agile environment. You will be performing trade of analysis on designing solutions such as centralised vs edge computing. Your primary responsibilities will be working with teams designing, documenting, testing and building solutions to meet customer requirements and goals. You will also prepare technical papers and playbooks, responses to acqusitions, and conduct white board sessions within Unisys and with customers.
This position requires:
•15+ years of hands-on computing architecture, technology and/or software design and development experience, at least 3 of which should be in a technical leadership role.
•Certified Cloud Architect (Amazon Web Services, MS Azure).
•Experience working with Hybrid Architectures inclusive of edge computing and Internet of Things (IoT).
•Knowedge of Federal Enterprise Architecture Guidebook.
•Expertise in developing software-defined data centers (SDDCs) where all infrastructure is virtualized and delivered as a service; control of the data center is fully automated by software; and hardware configuration is maintained through intelligent software systems.
•Knowledge and exprience working with advanced security solutions including identity-driven microsegmentation.
•Experience working with ITSM tools such as Remedy and ServiceNow.
• Experience with Data Center Management tools
•Proven experience in driving full cycle end to end development from design through implementation, including data center and server operation and support.
•Hands-on development, problem resolution and knowledge of various horizontal and vertical packages - spanning across all layers in the technical stack.
•Familiarty with Agile environment practices and delivery including demonstrated experience in working with business team members, product owners, and software, compute, data and network engineers to review and qualify business requirements, functional specifications, use-cases, and test plans.
•Knowledge of SDN, SDI and Software Defined Data Centers, including related technology to support cloud computing and facilitate network and compute infrastructure management.
• Authorship of technical white papers and playbooks.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills are essential.
• Familiarity with Docker and other operating-system-level virtualization (containerization) programs.
Familiarity and experience with the following is desirable:
•ITIL Foundation and other ITIL certifcations.
•Experience in transitioning from Remedy to ServiceNow.
•Mobile application support experience.
•Experience with SDN and SDI..
•Expertise with DevSecOps, Testing Automation, Continuous Integration & Deployment (CI-CD) environment.
•Event driven architecture •Experience with DHS OneNet
•Familiarity with Microservices Patterns and best practices.
•Proven skills in Cloud native development and data center migration.
U.S. CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED
Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Systems Management or related field degree or higher and a minimum of 15 years of related experience. Applicable advance certifications and education and specific skills can be substituted for Master's degree or years of experience. Current DHS Clearance a bonus.
