    We are currently seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented Application Developer to join our team in Malvern, PA to begin an exciting and challenging career with Unisys Federal Systems.


    This teammember will create applications to address a wide range of meteorological challenges as well as analyzes and improves existing programs. He or she will work with the team and independently to develop applications and solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives. His or her work will be reviewed by the team upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.

    Key Responsibilities/Outcomes: 
    Develops scientific applications in Python to process GRIB, NETCDF and other meteorological data formats
    Plans, conducts and coordinates the development of complex and/or diverse computer programs
    Support cost analyses and justifications for programming projects
    Defines test schedules and test data requirements to verify logic of new or modified programs
    Develops programming and documentation standards as needed
    Creates documentation in support of software development and system engineering lifecycle as needed
    Contributes to technical artifacts through team/program SharePoint and/or communities of practice
    Leads and advocates for project stakeholders to ensure developed software solutions meet the stakeholder needs and expectations
    Assist the Task Lead in managing the schedule, quality, and technical solution on assigned projects



    Key Qualifications:
    Bachelor’s degree in associated discipline (Meteorology, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Math) or equivalent experience and a minimum of 3 years related experience
    Advanced to proficient mid-level knowledge and experience with some of the following programming languages: Python, PHP, .NET/C#, Java, and JavaScript
    Ability to analyze end users’ needs and design, translate them into technical specifications, construct, deploy and maintain engineering and/or scientific applications
    Knowledge of Agile and DevOps
    Ability to interface with internal and external customer contacts
    Critical skills would include experience in application development (design and implementation) and the ability to work independently with direction
    Must be able to plan out tasks and subtasks to accomplish objectives as scheduled by management
    Desired experience working in both cloud and on-prem environments
    Desired experience using Agile and DevOps tools such as Jira, BitBucket, Git and Jenkins

    On time delivery of software assignments.
    Quality product with zero defects meeting user specifications and expectations within budget
    Ability to estimate work products effectively
    The Weather team and this position are based in Malvern, PA.
