    Unisys is seeking highly motivated Systems Engineers who will be responsible for installation, configuration, demonstration, and operation of RackWare’s flagship product, RackWare Management Module (RMM). Individual will Model and applies software or systems engineering methods and techniques to the design, definition, development, evaluation, integration, qualification and/or support of complex products, tools, or technologies in one or more areas of expertise.

     

    In addition, the ideal candidate will have the ability to thrive in a start-up environment, while managing multiple tasks and activities. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively is required. Some travel may be required.

     

    Office location is Reston, Virginia with periodic travel to mission partner sites located in Washington D.C. area with virtual office being home based. 

     

    Must be US Citizen and have active DoD Secret Clearance is required!

     

    In this role you will be responsible for: 

    • Work independently or cooperatively with other engineers, often assuming technical and project leadership roles.
    • Considered a technical authority in a knowledge domain and may function as a technical consultant or researcher.
    • Leader of small team/mentor is a plus.
    • Self-directed within management guidelines. May give direction. 
    • May define some processes. Recommend/develop improvements.
    • Initiate discussions both within and outside the extended team. Resolve issues. Escalate issues as and when required.
    • Act as an expert in an area of a product.
    • Demonstrate strength in more than one key area.
    • Familiar with the system of which the product is a part.
    • Estimate, plan and manage multiple concurrent tasks or small/sub project. Capture actual efforts in status reports. Report, submit and track defects in programs.
    • Conduct technical feasibility studies with assistance.
    • Implement components of products or solutions. Implements complex features or test cases.
    • Prepare user documentation or provide inputs for creating user documentation as required.
    • Develop test plans for assigned products, product areas, or solutions. Write/run tests.
    • Review design specs and develops plan for testing a product. Execute tests at the product level. Lead system set-up and maintenance efforts.
    • In-depth analysis and debug of problems. Recommend suggested solutions to problems.
    • Proficient in the analysis of diagnostic traces.
    • Assist vendors in problem resolution
    • Solve complex problems with some assistance.
    • Assist others.
    • Review external customer User Communication Forms (UCF’s) for specific products and update or create new test cases as appropriate.
    • Handle Contacts and UCF’s in multiple product areas. Expedite resolutions. Identify product supportability improvement opportunities.
    • Coordinate effectively in virtual teams. Understand regional cultural considerations and form tight working relationships.
    • Expected to learn new technologies and continue to expand expertise.
    • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders across functions and geographical regions.
    • Knowledge of Engineering Concepts.
    • Proactive, analytical and capable of influencing and providing decision support.
    • Team Player, leader and mentor.
    • Organization with high level expertise in a specific solution/technology.

     

    Requirements

    Must possess the following skills and technology expertise:  

    • Installation, configuration, management, and support of Windows and/or Linux OSesConfiguration and debug of network technologies such as Ethernet, TCP/IP NFS, DHCP, and DNS.
    • Configuration and debug of storage technologies such as iSCSI, LVM, NAS, and SAN.
    • Hands-on experience with server virtualization technologies including at least one of the following hypervisors: VMware ESX, KVM, Xen, or Hyper-V.
    • Understanding of cloud computing and common enterprise datacenter technologies
      Datacenter security mechanisms.
    • Migration or on-boarding experience to physical servers, virtual machines or a cloud environment is a plus but not required. 


    Desired Windows skill sets: 

    • Provisioning and configuration of multiple Windows Server Editions.
    •  File systems such as NTFS and ReFS.
    • Booting configurations and protocols such as BCD (Boot Configuration Data).
    • Use of Windows Pre-execution Environment (WINPE) .
    • Powershell


    Desired Linux skill sets: 

    • Provisioning and configuration RHEL/CentOS and at least one other Linux distribution.
    • File systems such as EXT2/3/4 and ZFS.
    • Linux booting methods and configuration such as GRUB.
    • Initramfs function and operation


    In addition to technical skills should have the following: 

    • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills attention to detail.
    • Ability to clearly communicate with customers and upper management.
    • Project management experience a plus 

    Education / Certification Requirements: 

    • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years of experience within a systems engineering.
    • DoD Approved 8570 Baseline Certification
